The FIA data sets provide the only statewide ground based vegetation data. This information is valuable for many types of projects ranging from academic research to trying to prioritize funding for fuels modification and economic development exercises. Many GIS users leverage their projects by using FIA data. Wildlife biologists are constantly attempting to intelligently relate vegetative cover with habitat habitat. East-West is pleased to help. We understand trees, biodiversity, environmental impacts, and the science behind the numbers. When it comes to complex national forestry databases, we know where those data came from, and we have the tools to put FIA to work on your project.
Our research also has turned up many associated data sets which work well with FIA data. These range from Census2000 data, to image processing and GIS coverages, to economic forescasts. More and more users are spending time investigating FIA. We put FIA, GIS, and hundreds of other data sets together to provide practical answers to questions that are surprisingly difficult to ask!
