Reach Out to the Hispanic American
Community
Because of limited resources during this pilot period, this program currently targets three U .S. chapters: Illinois, Southern California, and Texas. Funded through the Office of Development Education of the U.S. Agency for International Development. The project links Partners' U.S. network with affiliates of the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the nation's principal constituency-based Hispanic organization, and the Hispanic Council on International Relations (HCIR) to carry out community outreach programs on local-global linkages between the U.S. and
Latin America. Partners Reach Out will collaborate with NCLR and HCIR's Ford Foundation-funded
Foreign Policy Project, designed to increase Hispanic involvement in U.S. foreign policy. The goals of the program are to: 1) develop educational programs in the U.S. that promote local/global
linkages in trade, community development, and
citizen participation; and 2) promote a Hispanic perspective on U.S. engagement
with the world, especially in international development. For more information
